Black chokeberry (Aronia Melanocarpa)
Black chokeberry/Siberian aronia (Aronia Melanocarpa) comes from eastern North America, which is later brought to Siberia and the northern parts of Eastern Europe. The Indians were the first to recognize its healing capacity and used it in their nutrition.
Science at the beginning of the 90’s of the last century made a great interest about this plant and since then a great number of studies were made in the USA, Russia and Poland, especially for its healing capacity, which contributed to gain the status of a healing plant.
The Siberian aronia fruits contain a large amount of biphenyl tannins, catechin, flavones, anthocyanidins (the most of all known sorts of fruit), folic acid, vitamins A, C (8 to 10 times more concentrated than in tropical fruits), B2, B6, B9, E and the very rare vitamin P, as well as β-Carotene, potassium, calcium, iron, manganese, molybdenum, iodine and phosphorus. The large amount of tannins and flavones, where the anthocyanidin has the biggest role, make the Siberian aronia the most efficient ANTIOXIDANT.
Healing capacity and use
Anti-carcinogenic effect – in a very high percent kills malignant cells of brain tumor, lungs, large intestine and liver (anthocyanidin and proanthocyanidin).
Antioxidant – prevents the production of free radicals and degeneration of healthy cell in human tissue and blood plasma and therefore slows down the organism’s aging process (tannins, flavones, vitamin C, vitamin E).
Head – improves blood circulation in brain blood veins and helps for headaches and migraines, prevents the development of arthrosclerosis and makes firm protection from dementia and Alzheimer disease (anthocyanidin, vitamin P).
Heart – reduces high blood pressure, normalizes cholesterol and provides quick recovery from heart and brain attack, regenerates the fine arterial muscular tissue and increases its elasticity, improves the miocarditis stimulating the generation of new fine blood veins, makes complete protection of vein obstruction (anthocyanidin, biphenyl, vitamin P)
Urinary system – treats urinary infections (5 to 10 times more efficient than the Canadian lingonberry) and prostate inflammation (proanthocyanidin).
Improvement of immunity system – prevents bacteria and virus infections (cold, influenza…) (biphenyl, vitamin C)
Endocrine glands – improves secrete of different types of hormone and regulates the thyroid gland function, moreover helps with blood sugar regulation, hemoglobin in blood, pancreas function and cures diabetes. It contains rare fruit sugar Sorbitol which helps in diet nutrition.
Blood and blood veins – improves blood picture and cleans blood, improves circulation, decreases high blood pressure, regulates blood sugar and decreases bad cholesterol, improves elasticity of blood veins (especially significant for diabetics) and prevents their obstruction, prevents arthrosclerosis and helps varicose veins.
Stomach – calms down contractions and pain in stomach, prevents inflammation of stomach mucous membrane, helps with stomach ulcer and stomach difficulties.
Intestine – calms down contractions and pains in intestine, prevents inflammation of intestine mucous membrane and prevents diarrhea.
Liver and bile – improves liver function and bile excretion, cleans the liver from fat, regenerates from hard diseases, heals and regulates inflammation of gallbladder and bile ducts, jaundice, gallstones and gallsand.
Eyes – improves sight, heals the degenerative changes of macula, protects eyes from UV radiation, prevents cataract.
Skin – increases elasticity and significantly decreases the presence of wrinkles and stretches, removes dark sun shades and chapped capillaries, refreshes skin, slows down the aging process.
Organism cleaning – it binds with hard metals and radioactive elements in body, enables their excretion which is of great use after radiotherapy in postoperative treatments (used a lot after the accident in Chernobyl to decrease the difficulties of the most affected staff of the radiation).
Shortens healing time and is used for disinfection – which is very important for the postoperative period (biphenyl, vitamin P, C and E).
